Inspired by the Federal State of Kuala Lumpur
DASEIN Academy of Art, Students
Together with this Bearista and the students of DASEIN Academy
of Art, take a stroll through Kuala Lumpur's up and coming
coffee culture, where the traditional 'Nanyang Coffee'
experience meets the modern flair.
From traditional kopitiams to cozy cafes like Starbucks, each
spot fosters connections and memories made over a warm cup of
coffee.

About the artists

Tan Zhe Qing
Tan Zhe Qing is an art student soon to graduate from DASEIN
Academy of Art with a degree in graphic design. She has
developed a deep passion for exploring typography and its
nuances throughout her academic journey.
She loves using simple elements such as shapes, colors, and
minimalist art styles in her designs, but she also enjoys
pushing her creative boundaries by experimenting with
various
artistic approaches.
One notable project from 2023, titled “Where Has Humanity
Gone?”, saw Tan Zhe Qing exploring a less familiar art style
and playing with typography. This editorial design won her
two Silver awards in Typography and Art Direction at the
Students Kancil 2023. Additionally, her typography poster
“Locusts” was recognized as a finalist in the Rising Award
International Youth Design Competition in 2022 and featured
in the Intercontinental Bienal Columbia 2023.
Looking ahead to graduation, Tan Zhe Qing is eager to enter
the professional realm to further refine her skills,
challenge herself creatively, and explore new opportunities
in the
field of graphic design.

Koi Jia Ru
Koi Jia Ru is final-year student, studying Graphic Design at
DASEIN Academy of Art. Since young, she has been captivated
by packaging and posters design seen in malls. Her dream is
to one day see her own designs showcased in similar spaces.
While still developing her personal style, Koi Jia Ru enjoys
integrating Chinese elements and vibrant colors into her
work. Her packaging design was recently featured on
'Packaging
of the World' website, and she participated in the Student
Kancil Awards in 2023.
Upon graduation, Koi Jia Ru aims to join a design agency to
gain diverse experience across different design disciplines
and further her professional growth.

Lim Yu Jie
Lim Yu Jie is a second-year Graphic Design student at DASEIN
Academy of Art. He chose this field to explore new paths and
experiment with various design skills, materials, and
styles.
He has a preference for unconventional, bold, and rebellious
designs that deviate from ordinary harmony and minimalism.
He enjoys learning from collages and sketchy designs,
appreciating how they maintain balance and spaciousness
despite their complexity.
Though relatively new to the design field, Lim Yu Jie had
his poster selected for the Intercontinental Bienal Columbia
in 2023. This achievement has motivated him to seek more
opportunities in exhibitions and competitions to further
improve his skills.
Yu Jie also enjoys experimenting with materials and designs
for clothing and jewelry, with hopes of eventually
establishing his own brand.
