Our Halal Policy

Starbucks Malaysia Halal Facts

  • Halal certified since 2006
  • All food and beverages, including its ingredients, in Starbucks Malaysia are 100% HALAL and registered and verified by JAKIM
  • Products and ingredients used in all our outlets are the same and go through the same verification process authorized by JAKIM
  • At least two (2) Muslim partners are required to be stationed in the stores at all times in compliance with the Halal Requirements set by JAKIM

Starbucks Malaysia has been certified Halal by JAKIM since 2006.

All food and beverages, including its ingredients, in Starbucks Malaysia are 100% HALAL and registered with JAKIM.

With regards to the rumors circulating, which has been viral for the past few years and continues to resurface in light of any issues relating or not relating to Starbucks, JAKIM has explained on their Facebook page with regards to these rumors. In general, merchandise that is made from ‘New Bone China’ contains calcium oxide as an alternative to animal bones, which is usually found in Bone China.
As for our merchandise currently in our stores, it is made from SiO2, Aluminum oxide (Al2O3), Iron (III) Oxide (Fe2O3), Titanium Dioxide (TiO2), Calcium Oxide (CaO), Magnesium Oxide (MgO), Potassium Oxide (K2O) and Sodium Oxide (Na2O). Since there is no animal bone source, it is considered Halal.
